Based on our recent event of the same title, the publication analyses the emergence of new formats of regional cooperation in the Eastern half of the European Union as well as their role and relationship vis-a-vis older existing ones. The paper also pays particular attention to the debates around the Visegrad group as a potential 'conservative coalition' within the European Union. Thus, it contains contributions on regional cooperation from the perspective of the Baltic states (Pitet Kuusik, EFPI), the Visegrad Group (Zsuzsanna Vegh, European University Viadrina), and South Eastern Europe (Vasile Rotaru, SNSPA Bucharest). The second part discusses conservatism in the Visegrad Group (Igor Merheim-Eyre, University of Kent), and the potential of Visegrad as a conservative coalition from the perspectives of Poland (Veronika Jozwiak, PISM) and the Czech Republic (Zuzana Stuchlikova, EUROPEUM)
