CENS Changes Name, Revisits Mission

Increasing volatility in the European Union has a strong influence on enlargement. In order to respond to recent changes across Europe, from March 2016, the Center for EU Enlargement Studies will be known as the Center for European Neighborhood Studies, while keeping its established acronym - CENS. It will retain its focus on EU enlargement, however, its change in name also brings a revision of its mission.

CENS researcher, Hana Semanić, contributs to OSW’s report “Paradoxes of stabilization. Bosnia and Herzegovina from the perspective of Central Europe”

CENS researcher Hana Semanić has contributed to OSW’s report “Paradoxes of stabilization. Bosnia and Herzegovina from the perspective of Central Europe” on the education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The report is devoted to analyzing the internal challenges to the stability, coherence and unity of the country. Special attention was also placed on examining the interest and strategies of the various international actors since they can hinder or support the reform process.

Britain in Europe

CENS researcher Zsuzsanna Végh has contributed to ECFR's "Britain in Europe Renegotiation Scorecard" with the section detailing the Hungarian position on the British reform demands ahead of the February EU Summit. The publication gives a comprehensive overview about all member states' views of the four key demands, the expected coalition partners and the state of debate on the issue in the countries. European Foreign Policy Scorecard 2016

CENS researcher Zsuzsanna Végh has been one of the contributing researchers of ECFR's European Foreign Policy Scorecard, conducting background research on Hungary's foreign policy in 2015. The European Foreign Policy Scorecard, published annually since 2011, provides a systematic assessment of Europe’s foreign policy performance, analysing the performance of the 28 member states and the EU institutions on 65 policy areas arranged around six key issue areas: Multilateral issues; Russia; Wider Europe; Middle East and North Africa; United States; Asia and China.

Internship Call - Frontiers of Democracy

The Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) at the Central European University is looking for a part-time intern to provide assistance on the project entitled “Frontiers of Democracy: Embedding Democratic Values in Moldova and Ukraine”. The intern will gain work experience in the research and think tank field as well as insights into project management in an international environment.
