Event Overview

The new European Commission took "reform" as one of its key slogans. This roundtable of experts will give the first evaluation of the Commission after its first 100 days in office, shortly after the introduction of President Juncker's EUR 300 billion growth package. Topics to be discussed will include the implications of the new Commission structure, the Commission's political agenda and strategic policy areas, foreign- and neighborhood policy (esp. vis-a-vis Russia and Ukraine), the need for institutional and economic reform (with a special emphasis on the Eurozone), various current issues (terrorism, internal migration, TTIP negotiations) and the increased involvement of Eastern member states in agenda setting. The roundtable will be focused through a narrative of challenges and the need for change (political, institutional, cultural), mirroring the rhetoric of the current Commission.
