Op-Ed on Three Seas Initiative

CENS researcher Łukasz Janulewicz commented on the Three Seas Inititive on the EU policy portal EURACTIV. On the occasion of the initiative's Warsaw summit, he argued that the EU should drop its suspicion and embrace the project, because it is a sign of Central and Eastern Europe growing up.

Preparatory workshop of “Trends of Visegrad European Policy” project

On June 21-22, Zsuzsanna Végh represented CENS at the preparatory internal workshop organized by the Association for International Affairs (AMO) for the “Trends of Visegrad European Policy” project in Prague. The project team met to streamline the discussion on methodology, the research questionnaire and trend-setters selection.

Professor Balazs Receives High Honors from Germany

Peter Balazs, professor in the Department of International Relations and director of the Center for European Neighborhood Studies, received the Knight Commander's Cross of the Republic of Germany in recognition of his significant contribution to German-Hungarian relations and the development of Europe. Balazs received the distinction from Lieselore Cyrus, charge d'affaires of the German Embassy in Budapest, in a ceremony May 24.

Membership of the European Union is an opportunity that needs to be seized, according to Professor Brigid Laffan, Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in Florence. That makes the success of Irish EU membership the Irish contribution to the EU. Ireland is the only country that succeeded to fully converge with the living standards of the richest EU members through its membership.
