Event Report: "Turkey and the European Union: Problems and Prospects"

On 14 April 2011 the Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) at CEU hosted a one-day conference entitled "Turkey and the European Union: Problems and Prospects" organized jointly by the Hungarian Europe Society and Economic Development Foundation (İktisadi Kalkınma Vakfı — İKV). The conference focused on Turkey’s current relations and accession process to the EU, particularly during the period of the Hungarian Council Presidency.

Event Report: "Presenting the new EU Strategy for the Danube Region"

On 20 April 2011 a high-level conference took place on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) organized by the Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS). The goal of the conference was to present the Strategy from both national and European perspectives and to highlight important issues that the Strategy aims to tackle. The first panel provided an overview of national standpoints of selected countries.

Event Report: "Improving Eastern Partnership"

In order to contribute to the success of the Hungarian Council Presidency, the Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) organized a conference on 18 April 2011 entitled “Improving Eastern Partnership.” The conference of remarkable opening speeches and two expert panels provided an assessment of the first two years of the Eastern Partnership (EP) and gave the necessary suggestions for a more efficient activity in the future.

Aron Szele and Zselyke Tofalvi published an article in the spring 2011 issue of the “Pro Minoritate” academic journal, entitled “A nemzettest formálása. Állampolgárság és nemzetiség Romániában” (Fashioning the national body. Citizenship and nationhood in contemporary Romania). Pro Minoritate is a scholarly journal, published in Hungary by the Pro Minoritate foundation, bringing together the latest research results in the field of minority studies and policy briefs.
