ABOUT THE "EU-36" PROJECT

The Centre for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) has initiated a multi annual/multi country project entitled the “EU-36”. The main idea of the project is to support the issue of EU enlargement and to discuss the future political, economic, socio-cultural and security aspects of a greater EU. The project is being carried out by involving key policy makers and by organizing workshops on thematic issues in close collaboration with the core project members:

  • “Extending the Single Market from 27 to 36” - Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA), Belgrade (held on 20 April 2012)
  • “Extending the Trans-European networks” - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), London (held on 27 June 2012)
  • “EU Budget and Common Policies” - Centre for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS), Budapest (held on 20 September 2012)
  • “The Prospects of Enlargement: Institutions and the Political Dimension” – Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), Berlin (held on 7 December 2012)
  • “Political consequences of further enlargements” - Sabanci University Istanbul (held on 15 March 2013)
  • “Democracy, Institutions and Identity” - University of Geneva, Geneva (held on 26 April 2013)
  • “Regional Cooperation and Neighborly Relations” - Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA), Bratislava (held on 30 May 2013)
  • “Eurozone” - Centre for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS), Budapest (13 September 2013)

ABOUT THE "EUROZONE" WORKSHOP

Part of this project entails the organization of a workshop at CEU on the topic of “Eurozone”. In order to advance our understanding of the current challenges and further prospects of the Eurozone in the “EU-36”, this workshop will bring together academics and policy-makers working in the field. The one-day event will feature presentations which will discuss the Eurozone issues in the enlarged EU.
