The lecture held by Savas Genç, assistant professor at the Fatih University Istanbul, will discuss the controversial issue of the extensive role of the military in Turkey and the consequenses for the democratic structures of the country. Within this context, the role of the EU as promoter of conditionality policy will be discussed.
