The Center for European Neighborhood Studies of the Central European University with the financial support of the German Marshall Fund / Black Sea Trust invites you to participate in the project "Black Sea - Eastern Europe Dialogue - Youth for Sustainable Peace"
Project goals
The Black Sea – Eastern Europe Dialogue – Youth for Sustainable Peace represents a discussion and networking platform for students and young professionals from the Black Sea region and Eastern Europe.
We seek to promote a better mutual understanding of the political, economic and social transformations in post-socialist countries since the collapse of the Soviet Union. While discussing the main challenges these countries still face today. Each of them followed a unique path towards democratization, parallel to that coupled with social and ethnic conflicts. The unresolved issues and diverse existing viewpoints across the region still demand dialogue and remain high on the political agenda.
Project components
A four-day educational program in Budapest, Hungary from 9 – 12 May 2018;
International guest lecturers will discuss key challenges of democratization, political and economic transformation in Central Eastern Europe, EU decision making, the politics of the Eastern Partnership, and conflict management in the Black Sea region.
The Youth Forum, organized within the framework of the project, to enable participants to exchange views on the political and economic developments of their countries and the region. The best final reports of participants will be published on the CENS website;
We offer 20 spaces for applicants from the Black Sea region and Eastern Europe.
The working language of the project is English.
Costs
Accommodation and meals are covered by organizers for all participants. We also offer a limited number of travel grants.
Eligibility
20-30 year-old
Students and graduates of the political science, international relations, sociology, journalism, economy and related social sciences
Academics, journalists, civil servants and civil society activists
Good command of English is mandatory
