Event Report – “The regional security situation in advance of Latvia’s EU Presidency”

CEU’s Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS), the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Hungary, and the CEU Rectorate hosted first Ambassadorial Lecture Series event of the 2014/15 academic year on 23 September 2014 entitled “The regional security situation in advance of Latvia’s EU Presidency”. The lecture was delivered by Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Hungary, H.E. Mr. Imants Lieģis, to a distinguished group of diplomats, ambassadors, students and university professors. The lecture was chaired by Péter Balázs, Director of CENS and former Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The lecture was followed by a lively question and answer session, touching upon a variety of issues: the current situation in Ukraine, priorities of the upcoming Latvian presidency of the Council of the Europen Union, the future enlargement process and many others.
